What I have Learned Moving to Tampa: Traveling with Tiger Lily

Introduction

As I embarked on the journey of moving to Tampa, my feline companion, Tiger Lily, became an unwitting globetrotter, living in three states in just a few short months. From Pennsylvania to West Virginia and finally to the sunny shores of Florida, Tiger Lily experienced the ups and downs of relocation alongside her human. Here are some valuable lessons I learned about my resilient cat during this adventure.

1. Bladder Mastery: The Cat Superpower

Cats have an incredible ability to hold their bladder, and Tiger Lily's prowess in this department became evident during our 17+ hour drive to Tampa. While us humans were desperately seeking rest stops, Tiger Lily stoically held it the entire journey. I even bought a portable litter box for the occasion. A true feline superpower that left me in awe.

2. Car Disdain: The Feline Road Trip Challenge

Despite my efforts to acclimate Tiger Lily to car rides beforehand, she made it clear that she despised being on the road. Limited exposure to car travel in the past meant she couldn't be convinced otherwise. Her discontent was palpable, but I learned that patience and understanding go a long way in helping a cat cope with the stress of a road trip. Constant love and pets from our passengers reassured her that all was going to be okay!

3. Calming Spray Magic

Enter the hero of our journey: calming spray. This little bottle turned out to be a game-changer. With a few spritzes, Tiger Lily visibly (and audibly...) relaxed during the car rides. The calming effects of the spray made the journey more bearable for both of us, turning anxious moments into peaceful ones.

4. Adapt and Overcome: The Cat's Resilience

Cats thrive on familiarity, and the sudden upheaval of multiple moves could have been overwhelming. Yet, Tiger Lily taught me that with time, patience, and a little comfort, cats can adapt and overcome the challenges of relocation. Her resilience shone through, and despite the initial discomfort, she now happily calls Tampa home.

5. Unconditional Love: A Constant Amidst Change

Through the chaos of moving, one thing remained constant—Tiger Lily's unwavering love. Despite the stress, the unfamiliar surroundings, and the many miles traveled, she continued to show affection and seek comfort. It served as a poignant reminder of the incredible bond between humans and their feline companions. I'm glad she didn't hate me for making her move...LOL!
